This section of the web site describes some of the feedback I have received over the past 20 years since this website was first created. The website has proved a useful tool to help Medlicotts or their descendants trace their ancestors or fill in gaps within their family tree.

One story that attracted particular attention is that concerning Lt. Harold Medlicott and readers have provided addition material about him, escapes with him and life in German POW camps during WWI.

Medlicott Dome
Perhaps the largest Medlicott statement on the face of the earth is the large rock formation named “Medlicott Dome” in the Tuolumne Meadows area of Yosemite National Park, California,U.S.A. This has a 500 feet sheer granite face and according to Peter Browning’s “Yosemite Place Names”, it is named for Harry P. Medlicott, who, with H.B. Carpenter, surveyed the route of the “Great Sierra Wagon Road” – the Tioga Road – in 1882.
Medlicott was a judge, US Deputy Mineral Surveyor, and prominent citizen of the new town of Lundy in the early 1880’s. An early name for the dome was “Court House Rock”. Twelve years later it was called “Mount Medlicott” July 22, 1882; but on July 29, 1883 the same paper used its present name. The name did not appear on a map until publication of the Tuolumne Meadow quad, 1956.
